Year 4 Mrs Tibbenham

Welcome to Year 4

I hope you've all had a nice summer holiday's and are looking forward to a great year ahead.

We have started the year by looking at our learning environment, classroom rules and establishing new friendships.  We have started with a lot of Thrive activities and spent time getting to know one another.  We have also started our spelling programme, guided reading and handwriting scheme.

Next week we have our curriculum launch morning and hope to see you there to celebrate our new topic - Suffolk Secret's

This term in Maths we will be focusing mainly on Number and Place Value, we have already started to look at ordering and comparing numbers and will then move onto recognising numbers and knowing their value.  It is really important that the children are secure in this before we move onto adding and subtracting.

In English we are really trying to encourage the love of reading, our class book is The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe and we make sure we have story time at the end of every day - the children are really enjoying this.

Our main topic is Suffolk Secrets, where we will be cooking some Suffolk foods and learning about the location of Suffolk in Geography.

Science - Electricity

Computing - We are Meterologists

Music - Mamma Mia

MFL - Describing people and nationalities

R.E - Hinduism/inspirational people
