We have had a fabulous start to the new school year here in Emperor Penguin Class.
I have been extremely impressed with the 'character matters' that all of our penguins have been demonstrating ... the most notable characteristics being resilience, determination and concentration. I have witnessed these during our week of assessments; our pupils have tried their best to show us the areas of learning which we need to prioritise in our teaching over the coming weeks.
Perhaps your child can explain to you what 'character matters' is all about?
As I am sure you all appreciate, home learning; and support with this, is of utmost importance right now. I am therefore expecting that the children will complete home learning, little and often in order to help them embed their learning and skills.
They have brought their homework books and instructions home. We have discussed this in great detail in class, and the children all understand what is expected of them. I have ensured that they all know that I am here to help them solve any problems or issues they might have in completing their daily home learning tasks. I will be very grateful if you can support them to be independent in talking to me should any difficulties arise - I know that time and motivation for homework can sometimes be a bit of a challenge!
In a change to previous PE kit information, the children will no longer leave their PE kits at school. Instead, we would like them to come to school dressed in their PE kits every Monday. They will remain in kit all day and wear it home ready to be washed for the following Monday. Our second weekly PE session will be yoga on Tuesdays with the lovely Yoga-Jo! The children do not need kits for this and will stay in their normal school uniform (shorts can be worn under school skirts if preferred).
Can I please ask that all brass instruments be returned no later than Monday 14th September to ensure they can be logged as returned and cleaned ready for the new Year 5 children to use in their weekly instrumental lessons. Please ask your child to return it direct to me on arrival to school (we are trying to minimise visits to the school office).
