Reading is a crucial skill of life. We need to make sure our children develop confident reading skills as well as developing a life-long love of reading.
We held a reading army session for parents that were interested in coming in for reading sessions with the children. Here are the notes that we used during that session. Hopefully you will find some useful information here to help you understand how your children are learning to read and how you can encourage them.
To ensure our children experience a wide range of stories we have created 'Route 66'. A collection of 66 books that all children will have heard by the time they finish Leiston Primary School. Starting in Nursery with classics such as 'Each Peach Pear Plum' to 'Swallows and Amazons' in year 6. Alongside such classics will be new and exciting books and authors.
