Eleven before Eleven!
Our aim in P.E. is to provide a curriculum that excites and challenges children in a range of sports and games, creating a pathway to lifelong participation in daily physical activity. We also aim to promote health lifestyles and provide children with the opportunity to participate in competitions within our high school sports partnership and Academy sports offer.
P.E. is taught from Nursery to Year 6 twice a week. By doing this our children get the recommended two hours or exercise a week. Our children are also incredibly active at lunch and break times. In addition to this, each class has 10 minutes of daily exercise and active lessons are promoted!
Across the majority of year groups the teacher is responsible for teaching one of the lessons, and Xtra Time teach the other lesson. Our sports coach in school is Mr Calver (a very popular coach with the children here at Leiston).

European and Commonwealth champion Andy Turner visits Leiston!
On Tuesday the 16th May Leiston Primary School was treated to a special visit from Andy Turner, European and Commonwealth champion over the 110m hurdles. Andy came to visit to inspire our children and lead a fun day of exercises with each class to help raise money for our P.E. department and young athletes across the country. Andy also gave an inspiring assembly to the whole school and parents and talked about the hard work and commitment he put in to becoming one of the worlds finest athletes.
An an amazing time was had by each and every child who were lucky enough to meet Andy and have their picture taken with him. Andy also brought in his medals that he had won during his career.
Thank you to all the children who took part and to the parents that turned up for the assembly. We now hope to raise as much money as possible!
