Miss Storey/Ms Taylor
Welcome to Ocelot Class!
Ocelot class is taught by Miss Storey and Ms Taylor and will also be supported by Mrs Rouse.
We have been working hard to create an exciting and interesting curriculum for this year which will engage and motivate you in your learning! You can find an overview of our topics across the year in the document below.
Year 4 Curriculum Overviews
Useful information:
Reading:
There will be an expectation that reading is done regularly at home, this can be with an adult or independently. This will be checked and encouraged at school and regular readers will be rewarded! Reading for at least 10 minutes a day, or at least four times a week has a huge effect on the child's fluency and confidence in reading. Regular reading also supports the development of children's vocabulary and their comprehension. Please send your child into school everyday with their reading book and reading record book, so that staff can regularly read with your child and monitor their reading progress.
Homework:
There will be weekly spelling homework sent home to practise at home. We do not formally test the children's weekly spelling list, however we will be incorporating them in their writing in class so that teachers can make their assessment. Please log in the Numbots and Times Table Rockstars to practise your times tables! In the summer term, Year 4 will take a statutory multiplication test, so practising at home will significantly support your children in this.
Personal belongings, clothing and water bottles:
Please ensure that all children's belongings are clearly named/labelled so any misplaced items can be returned to your child. This helps us to encourage the children to be responsible and independent in looking after their own belongings. Please also only send your child in to school with water - no squash or fizzy drinks please.
P.E. will be taught on a Monday and Wednesday, so please sne dyour child into school wearing their P.E kits on these days.
