Year 6 SATs Information

As part of our commitment to keeping you fully informed about your child’s education, below are the details for the Key Stage 2 (KS2) SATs for the 2025-2026 school year. If you have any questions after reading through, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

What are KS2 SATs?

  • KS2 SATs are national assessments taken by pupils at the end of Year 6 (ages 10-11).

  • They assess your child’s skills in Reading, Grammar, Punctuation & Spelling (GPS), and Mathematics.

  • The results help the school, the Local Authority, and the Department for Education to understand what children know and can do, and to help plan support where it may be needed.

When are the SATs?

  • The statutory key stage 2 tests are timetabled from Monday 11th May to Thursday 14th May 2026.

The assessment of writing is completed throughout the year and the deadline for submission of this is much later in the year.

How you can help

As parents and carers, you play a huge role. Here are some suggestions:

  • Make sure your child arrives on time, has had a good night’s sleep, and a nutritious breakfast.

  • Encourage reading, both for school and for pleasure, including discussing books and texts at home.

  • Help with regular times tables / number practice. Confidence with the basics (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) is essential.

  • Ensure homework is completed, especially GPS and Maths tasks; it reinforces what’s being taught in school.

Reporting & Results

  • Once the results are confirmed (usually in the summer term), we will send home individual reports showing how your child has done.

Important Notes

  • The assessments are one part of how we understand a child’s learning. Teacher assessments, classwork, and other evidence also contribute to the full picture of your child’s progress.

  • We are committed to making the testing period as stress-free as possible. Our aim is that every pupil does their best in a supportive atmosphere.
