Leiston Primary School

Toucans - Mrs Daynes

Welcome to the Toucan Class

2024-2025!

Class Teacher: Mrs H Daynes

Class Teaching Assistant: Miss S Linsell

Below you will find all the key information you need to know as a Year 3 child at Leiston Primary School...

Key information:

PE: Please can the children come to school in their PE kits on a Tuesday and a Friday.

Reading: Please read at least 3 times a week and ensure your reading record is signed. A positive attitude to and consistently reading at home will be rewarded with house points and additional rewards in class. For those not reading regularly home, opportunities will be provided for them to practice this vital skill in school.

Homework: Weekly homework will be set on a Friday, in addition to the regular reading practice. There will be a maths and spelling task, as well as an expectation that your child will practice their maths fluency and times tables using the White Rose, Numbots and TTRS APPs. Homework will be due in on a Wednesday.

The virtual worry box for children

Children are used to having a worry box in class or an adult on hand to talk to while in school. From today children can share their worries with an adult in school by sending an email to our virtual worry box to let us know who they would like to talk to.

leistonworrybox@avocetacademy.org

We cannot promise to keep information secret but we can promise to always work to ensure the right support is available - please see the Children's Safeguarding Policy.

Children can talk to us about worries they might have including:

  • things that have happened to them or someone else
  • not knowing where to go when feeling scared
  • missing school
  • what will happen in the future
  • coping with mental health.

Children can also contact Childline from 7:30am-3:30am every day, either online, by calling 0800 1111 or by sending a message from their website.
